DIY: effervescent bath bombs
As fun to make for kids as for kids, here's a simple recipe for making your own effervescent bath bombs. Small creations that are also beautifully presented as a gift!
Equipment:
A big bowl
A small bowl
Gloves
Silicone mold
A sieve
A whip
A vaporizer
A robot-mixer
ingredients:
1 cup of baking soda
½ cup of cornstarch
½ cup of citric acid
½ cup of Epsom salt
2 ¾ c. oil of your choice (olive or vegetable)
¾ c. tablespoons water
20 drops of essential oil of your choice
Food coloring (optional)
Dried flowers (lavender or rose, optional)
Technical:
Pass the citric acid and the Epsom salt in the mixing robot until a fine powder is obtained.
Sift all dry ingredients into the large bowl. Put on the gloves and mix well with the whisk.
In small bowl, mix all liquid ingredients including food coloring (if desired). Pour some water into the spray bottle and set aside.
Mix the dry and liquid ingredients together until the texture retains its shape slightly after being pressed into the hands. Add water as needed with the spray bottle.
Place the dried flowers at the bottom of the mold cavities and pack the mixture firmly over them.
Let the mold rest for 24 hours in a dry place. Unmould and let stand another 24h.
Note: To vary the smell of your effervescent bombs, you can use a lot of things like tea (chaï, matcha, fruity), spices (cinnamon, ginger, cardamom) as well as citrus peel. You can also use different essential oils that blend well together.
