Build a garden in wooden pallets
The lack of space on your balcony prevents you from growing fresh herbs? Here is the solution too pretty, which in addition is made of recycled material: a garden in wooden pallets!Equipment:
2 wooden pallets (1 intact and 1 used for the boards)
twenty or so nails 2 ½ in. or longer
a hammer
a saw
a stitcher
a drill * (only necessary if you have a very massive pallet)
tissue scraps 100% cotton / hemp or a roll of bedspread
a bag of earth
plants / herbs
Method:
First, make sure the pallet you have is solid and in good condition. You can still add some boards from the 2nd pallet to solidify the structure of the first one.
The top, the center and the bottom of the palette where there are 2 boards facing each other will serve you as flower boxes.
You must create a base by nailing a board under each of these parts.
Then, wrap the fabric (or ground cover) in the bins so as to prevent the earth from falling into the cracks.
If you are in an apartment and you can not do a permanent installation, I suggest you use the old technique of square bending to fix the pallet on the ramps of the patio with rope.
Fill with soil, plant your favorite herbs or flowers and enjoy the summer!
You could also use the method of this article to darken your wood and the wood image transfer method to identify what you have planted.
